About Lestrup

It all started in 2004/2005. As an aspiring go-kart driver without a budget Fredrik found himself in a Swedish TV-show called Pole Position where a selected group of racing drivers with ambition but no budget competed for a fully funded drive in the Junior Touringcar Championship in Sweden. Over a series of programmes the contestants went through a number of driving and other tests and in the end Fredrik came out on top. That was the start of his racing career. Today Fredrik is a GT- and touring car driver with a speciality in 24-hour races, he has six 24-hour race starts to this day.

The prize was a fully funded drive in the Junior Touring Car Championship in Sweden in 2005. A season in an underdeveloped car honed his racecraft which was evident at the MINI Challenge World Finals in Misano where Fredrik fought for the victory and came out second overall. For 2006 Fredrik switched to the Citroën Dealer Team and fought for the championship in only his second season. An overly enthusiastic competitor with an optimistic brake point ended the championship hopes in the penultimate round.

For 2007 Fredrik took the step up to the Swedish premier touringcar championshiop, STCC, where he drove a three year old BMW 320 SI E46 S2000 in the highest class. Up against manufacturer teams the small private team he drove for struggled but Fredrik still managed to fight for points in races and at the final race he set the fastest time around drive at Mantorp Park in the S2000 E46 BMW. Mandatory pitstops for two tyre changes introduced for the season gave the larger team a distinct advantage in the races.

With the experience of three touring car seasons in total in Sweden Fredrik changed his focus to Europe and Germany where he went into the highly competitive German MINI Challenge Championship. Four seasons spent in MINI Challenge established Fredrik in the European racing world, and he mixed full seasons in the MINI Challenge with various endurance and GT races. In 2011 he also drove the Swedish GT Championship in a BMW Z4 where he became the champion. This was also the year he made his first 24-hour start, racing for MINI Motorsport in the infamous 24-hour race at Nürburgring in a MINI John Cooper Works Coupé.

2012 became his busiest racing year to date with a full season in the ADAC GT Masters championship in Germany in a BMW Z4 GT3, 24-hour races at Nürburgring, Barcelona and Dubai and Swedish GT.

For 2013 Fredrik is racing in the 24-hour races at Dubai, Nürburgring and Barcelona as well as selected races in the German endurance VLN championship at Nürburgring.
