It’s time for the fourth round in ADAC Procar, this weekend at the quick Salzburgring track in Austria.
Fredrik Lestrup and Besaplast Racing heads there with a view to consolidate the championship lead after last weekend at Lausitzring. There Fredrik took his fifth straight pole position and win but the very hot summer weather made the engine overheat and the team had to sit out the second race.
Fredrik still maintains the championship lead, now with the advantage decimated to twelve points. With a new engine he now looks forward to the Austrian track.
”I know Salzburgring well from the MINI Challenge days and look forward to go there,” Fredrik says. ”We are of course looking for pole position and wins from the weekend to extend our championship lead, but we know it won’t come easy. Changing the engine can lead to all kind of challenges but in Besaplast Racing and Dombek Racing we have the team to tackle whatever comes our way. I confident we’ll have a good weekend.”
Information about the ADAC Procar weekend at Salzburgring:
The weekend at Lausitzring had both highs and lows for Fredrik Lestrup as he and Besaplast Racing tackled the third weekend and round 5 and 6 of the ADAC Procar Championship at the combined oval and road course track in Germany. The very hot summer weather created its own problems during the weekend.
The weekend started great with yet another pole position for the Saturday race, Fredriks fifth straight pole position. It was duly followed by his fifth victory in as many starts as Fredrik kept the rest of the field behind him for the 20 minute race.
However the very high temperatures at Lausitz created problems and Fredrik had to nurse an overheating car over the finish line in first place. After the race the team discovered damage to the engine and set to work to try and fix the problem. No matter how hard the Besaplast and Team Dombek tried the damage to the engine was too much and a start in the second race on Sunday was unfortunately out of the question. Fredrik summarizes his thoughts and impressions from the weekend.
“The positives first. The car was once again great and I have five victories from five starts so far which is great. Unfortunately the engine went hot during the race. It was extremely warm this weekend and we knew this was a risk. I could see the temperatures rising during the race and really nursed the car home, still protecting the lead. Unfortunately the temperature was too high and the damage to the engine too much to be able to start the race on Sunday. I know the team always does absolutely everything they can and always perform miracles so it says a lot when not even they could fix this. It is what it is and unfortunately my closest rival in the championship had a good Sunday but we are still in the lead. We’ll head to Salzburgring with a new engine hungry for revenge and encouraged we still have won every race we’ve started this year,” Fredrik says.
Fredrik still tops the standings, 12 points ahead of Heiko Hammel. ADAC Procar now heads for Austria and Salzburgring for round 7 and 8 on July 24-26.

It’s the third race weekend in ADAC Procar this weekend and this time the series heads to Lausitzring for two races at the combined oval track and road course. The action kicks off with free practice on this Friday followed by a qualifying and 30-minute race each on Saturday and Sunday.
Fredrik Lestrup heads to Lausitzring in good spirits after having won four out of four races so far this season with Besaplast Racing.
“I’m eager to go again and eager to win of course! Lausitzring is a special track I drove in GT Masters in 2012, a nice combination with parts of the oval track and the road course on the infield. The weather seems to be very warm this weekend so it will be hard work in the car and the car will also be pushed to the limit. Engine temperatures are critical so it will be important to get clear air in the race to cool the engine down as much as possible. Let’s go!”

There was no stopping Fredrik Lestrup when ADAC Procar went to Belgium and Zolder for the second round of the championship. Pole position for both races followed up by two victories and fastest lap in both races meant maximum points for this weekend and four wins out of four races so far for the Swede.
“Great work by everyone in the team and a fantastic weekend,” Fredrik says. “We made the most out of everything and I couldn’t be happier. Obviously not a bad weekend for the championship either.”
Fredrik’s closest challenger this weekend was teammate Kai Jordan who finished second in both races. This means Fredrik now has a healthy 20 point lead in the championship after the first two rounds and four races.
“The car is still getting better and better and I must thank the team, Besaplast and Team Dombek, for all their hard work. I look forward to the next weekend. We’ve started well but it’s a long way to go yet.”
Next race in the championship is at Lausitzring July 3th-5th, the third out of eight rounds.

The start of the ADAC Procar season couldn’t have been better for Fredrik Lestrup and Besaplast Racing. Arriving at Oschersleben with a brand new MINI, a car the team has built themselves from scratch and finished just mere days before the first practice expectations were surpassed with pole and victory in both races.
“What a start and that’s one impressive roll-out of a newly built car!” Fredrik says. “I can’t thank Besaplast and David Dombek enough for the hard work they have put in to make this new MINI as fast as it was from the start. It was nearly perfect straight out from the trailer and that is rare.”
Fredrik topped both qualifying sessions in dominant style and led both races from start to finish except a bit of a slow start in race one that put him on the back foot for a few corners before he could retake the lead. All in all it was a dominant display at Oschersleben.
“A lot of fun this weekend. I always enjoy the race weekends with Besaplast and winning both races from pole just adds to that. I’m so impressed by the new car they’ve built and I know how much hard work they have put it so I can’t thank them enough. We had a perfect weekend and big thanks to the team and all the partners who made this possible.”
Fredrik Lestrup obviously leads the championship after the first race weekend. The next race is at Zolder in Belgium June 5-7.
